Enchanted Destiny

According to my experience Cuba wasn´t a great culinary destiny, but I have to admint that I was only 3 days in Habana and the other 3 days I was in, Varadero in an all inclusive hotel and as you know these hotels rarely have good food.

But even though Cuba it´s a magic place, you have to visit, the people are really warm, the city is full of colors and music, and the fact that somehow you feel like stopped in time it´s magical, so go to Cuba, before you find a country full of McDonalds and Starbucks.

Según mi experiencia en Cuba les puedo decir que este no es un gran destino culinario, pero también tengo que admitir que solo estuve 3 días en la Habana y los otros 3 en Varadero, en un hotel con todo incluido que como ustedes bien saben, en estos hoteles la comida rara vez es genial.

Pero a pesar de esto Cuba es un lugar mágico que hay que visitar, la gente es bastante cálida, la ciudad esta llena de colores y sonidos, y en cierta forma sientes que el tiempo se ha sentido para ti en ese lugar, es mágico, así que corre y ve a Cuba antes que este lleno de McDonalds y Starbucks.

Mojitos en la Bodeguita

If you know, Cuba is well known by their mojitos!! and the best place to have one is in La Bodeguita del Medio, the place it's excellent and there is always live music, because of the Hot Sun of the island this is so far one of the best drinks you can have.

One historical fact, it's that in this bar, people said Ernest Hemingway had his mojitos.

Go to La Bodeguita and enjoy the music and the mojitos.

Si no sabias Cuba es bien conocido por sus mojitos, y el mejor lugar para tomarte uno es La Bodeguita del Medio, el lugar es excelente y siempre tienen música en vivo, debido al calor de la isla, esta es una de las mejores bebidas que puedes tener.

Un dato historico es que en se dice que en este bar Ernest Hemigway se tomaba sus mojitos.

Ve a La Bodeguita y disfruta de la musica y los mojitos.

Casa Miglis was the first restaurant we visited when we arrived to Cuba, this is a Swede, restaurant. I know it's not traditional cuban cuisine but I read and article in "Bon Appetit" about what places to visit in Cuba, and this was one of them.  

I order a Souvlaki, that is a Greek style pork barbecue with two different  sauces: Tzatziki and the famous Casa Miglis Spicy Tomato Sauce. The dish comes with garlic and herb roasted potatoes. Let me tell you, words are not enough to describe how delicious this meal was. It was the best meal I ate during my 6 day visit in Cuba.

For dessert we order a Banana Surprise, that is butter fried bananas with vanilla ice cream, my mistake I made was to think that the banana was going to be tempura style, and when I saw that wasn't like that I was a little dissapoitment, but the flavor was good.

I highly reccomend this place, if you are planning to visiting Cuba, please go to Casa Miglis, you wont regreat it, the place is excellent, the food is excuisit and the staff is very friendly.

Casa Miglis fue el primer restaurante que visitamos cuando llegamos a Cuba, este es un restaurante sueco. Ya se que no es un lugar tradicional de comida cubana, pero había leído un artículo en "Bon Apettit" sobre los lugares que debías visitar en tu estadía en Cuba y este era uno de ellos.

Yo pedí un Souvlaki, que son unos pinchos de cerdo al estilo griego con dos salsas diferentes una de ellas la salsa Tzatziki y la otra la famosa salsa de tomate de Casa Miglis, el plato venia con papas rostizadas con ajo y hierbas. Y les prometo que las palabras no me alcanzan para decirles lo deliciosa que estaba esta comida. Fue la mejor comida que tuve en mis 6 días en Cuba.

Como postre pedimos un Banana Surprise, que son bananos fritos con helado de vainilla, mi error fue que cuando leí la descripción pensé que el banano iba a venir en tempura y cuando lo vi que no era así, me decepciono un poco, pero el sabor estaba bastante bueno.

Les recomiendo este lugar, si piensan visitar Habana no se vayan si visitar Casa Miglis, no se van a arrepentir, el lugar es lindo, la comida excelente y el staff bastante amigable.
