Light Chinese

MI amiga Brenda quería probar un nuevo restaurante chino llamado Tao Yuen, ubicado en el nuevo centro comercial Parque Las Américas, en la zona 14.

Datos de Tao Yuen:

• Ambiente: Casual y moderno
• Parqueo: El centro comercial cuenta con amplio parqueo
• Servicio: Muy buena la atención, a pesar que el restaurante estaba bastante lleno, nos atendieron bien y de manera eficiente.
• Precio: $$

El restaurante tiene opciones de cerdo, pollo, mariscos, sopas, arroces, fideos, dumplings, algunas opciones vegetarians y especialidades, como una berenjena con carne, caracol al vapor, entre otros.

Entre las opciones que encontré estaba un pollo al maní, que era pollo salteado con apio, vegetales, arvejas, maní y cebolla en salsa de ostras. Y como investigué la salsa de ostras, está hecha de una reducción ostras y no le añade tantas calorías al condimentar las comidas, así que me pareció una excelente opción. 

Brenda ordeno una sopa de wantán. Nuestras selección de bebidas fue un té de jazmin para ella y uno verde para mi.

Mi té estaba exquisito, endulzado con miel, y el pollo era una porción abundante, la verdad no me lo termine, Brenda picó y todavía nos llevamos lo que sobró. El sabor del pollo estaba muy rico yno se sentía grasoso, que por lo general uno hace la asociación de comida china con grasa, pero esta opción estuvo perfecta. La sopa de wantán, a pesar que no soy muy fan de ella, la probé y me gusto el sabor, es perfecta como para un día lluvioso.

El lugar es bastante lindo, puede ser una buena opción para una cita casual.

My friend Brenda, wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant named Tao Yuen, located in the new shopping center Parque Las Americas, in zone 14.

Tao Yuen´s Facts:

• Parking: The shopping provides ample parking
• Service: Very good service, even though the restaurant was full, we ere served attentive and efficiently.
•  Price: $$

The restaurant has many optionsof chicken, meat, pork, seafood, rice, noodles, dumplings and some vegetarian options, and specialities, such as eggplant with meat, and steamed snail among others.

Among the options, I found the peanut chicken, which is a chicken sautéed with celery, vegetables, peas, peanuts and onions, in oyster sauce. And as I researched the oyster sauce, it is made from a reduction of oysters, it does not add as many calories to the food, so I thought it was an excellent choice.

Brenda ordered a won tong soup. Our choice of drinks was jasmine tea for her and green one for me.

My tea was exquisite, sweetened with honey. The chicken was a copious portion, I did not finish it; Brenda nibble from my plate and we still took home some leftovers. The taste of the chicken was rich and did not feel fatty. Chinese food is usually associated with fat, but this option was perfect. The won tong soup, which I´m not a fan of it, had a very good taste, it is perfect for a rainy day.

The places is charming, and can be a good choice for a casual date.

The first impression always count

I have a group of friends that we don't see to often as we like, but we try to meet up to eat from time to time.

When we decided to have dinner together one of the group suggest PF Changs, this restaurant is new in Guatemala, so I hadn't been there.

To begin we share an order of fried dumplings, that were good, and then I ate sushi, what I like is that you can actually can feel the taste of the cheese cream because in some places the they don't put it enough. The sauce had a good flavor considering that you need strong flavors because I order the sushi with crab and this meat doesn't have enough flavor by itself.

What can I tell you about this place, is that I am considering give them a second chance, because the first one was terrible, the waiter had a horrible attitude, the place is pricy and I understand that is not just about the food, because this was good, but if you are pricy, the service MUST BE EXCELLENT, and if you are laking this characteristic, you start to wonder why you went to this pricy place in the first place, and the worst of the night, was that I spent the whole day thinking about a cup of coffee, and I order a capuchino and they gave me a coffee with milk, and when I told this to the waiter, he gave me the excuse that it was because ir ordered the capuchino with skimmed milk, like this was the first capuchino that I order like that. When he told me that I was upset and told him that I wanted to cancel the order and he left angry, then he returned with a new coffee well done, but I was already upset.

One of my friends of this group told me that she returned next day and that the experience was much better, but for me I am still thinking if I want to return or not.

Tengo un grupo de amigas con las que no nos juntamos tan seguido como quisiéramos. 

Así que por fin nos pusimos de acuerdo para ir a cenar y una de ellas sugirió ir a P.F Changs, este restaurante abrió recientemente en Guatemala y no había ido.

Para empezar ordenamos una porción de dumplings buenos que estaba bastante bien, yo comí sushi que a decir verdad estaba bastante rico sobre todo por que tenia suficiente queso crema, que en algunos lugares le ponen muy poco y la salsa tenia un intenso sabor, algo necesario por que el rollo tenia cangrejo y esta carne no tiene suficiente sabor.

Lo que les puedo decir de este lugar es que estoy considerando si darles una segunda oportunidad o no. Principalmente por que el servicio fue muy malo. El mesero tenia una muy mala actitud y es un poco caro para lo que ofrecen. Entiendo que no todo es sobre la comida sino sobre la experiencia, pero cuando vas a un lugar caro en donde el servicio es caro, empiezas a dudar el por que decidiste ir a este lugar, si la comida esta bien pero es muy mal servicio para el precio. Lo peor que me pudo pasar esa noche fue que pedí un capuchino, todo el día estuve deseándolo, y cuando me lo llevan era un café con leche, no tenia nada de espuma y cuando se lo dije al mesero el me respondió con la excusa que era por que la leche descremada no hacia espuma, como que fuera el primer capuchino que ordenaba de esta forma. Con esto me puso realmente molesta que decidí cancelar la orden, y el mesero se fue molesto. Al rato regreso con un capuchino como se debe pero ya me había arruinado mi cena.

Una de mis amigas de este grupo me comento que regreso al día siguiente y que el servicio había estado mucho mejor, pero yo aún sigo pensando si les doy otra oportunidad o no.
