Kape Paulinos

Eating in Tecpan in Chimaltenango is a very good option especially for breakfast. If you are making a trip and you need to pass though Chimaltenango, make the time to eat in one of the restaurants of Tecpan.

In this occasion we chose Paulinos for breakfast. The place has been around for many years so is common that you find the place full, so if you are a large group be patient. 

To eat I ordered a quesadilla. That was a flour tortilla, scramble eggs, bacon and cheese, and beans as complement. When I order I thought that maybe I woudn´t be satisfy and that probably I was going to order some dessert. But little I knew about the portion. When I get my quesadilla, it was enormous. I didn't finish my fried beans because I was full.

The quesadilla was really good, with a good amount of bacon and cheese. The waiter was really nice and the service was fast even though it was full. The coffee order has a free refill so is great and the best of all is that the prices are really affordable.

Comer en Tecpan en Chimaltenango es una buena opción, especialmente para el desayuno. Si estas por hacer un viaje y debes pasar por Chimaltenango, has el tiempo para comer en alguno de los restaurantes de Tecpan.

En esta ocasión escogimos Paulinos para desayunar. El lugar tiene muchos años en el mercado, por lo que es muy común que encuentres lleno el restaurante, así que si vas con un grupo grande, debes tener paciencia para que te asignen una mesa.

Para comer ordene una quesadilla. Que es una tortilla de harina, huevos revueltos con tocino y queso, acompañada con frijoles. Cuando pedí mi desayuno pensé que tal vez no me iba a llenar y que seguramente iba a pedir un postre. Pero que poco sabía sobre las porciones, por que cuando me llevaron mi quesadilla estaba enorme y ni siquiera me pude terminar mis frijoles por que ya estaba muy llena.

La quesadilla estaba muy buena, tenia una buena cantidad de tocino y queso. El mesero fue muy amable y nos dieron nuestra orden bastante rápido a pesar que el restaurante estaba lleno. La orden de café tiene refill  lo que hace que sea un excelente lugar además que los precios son bastante accesibles.

On the road

I have the opportunity to participate in a program of Access which is an organization part of the US embassy, that its purpose is to provide scholarships to the young people in different areas. And for the photography program they made and association with La Fototeca, and they called me to be part of the program as a teacher. So thats when I started my little trip to Quetzaltenango.

I was really excited to be sharing with this kids, plus I had this idea of traveling alone for long time,  and this was the perfect occasion to do it. 

So I was alone in the road with my favorite music, and when I got hungry I decided to make my strategic stop in El Rincon Suizo, this spot only proves one thing: You don't need fancy ingredients to have a delicious meal. What I order was a tortilla with cheese but believe me is one of the best. You don't need meat to feel good about it.

So next time if you are in the road and pass by Chimaltenango hold on a little longer and wait till you get to Tecpan to taste this delicious tortillas.

Tuve la oportunidad de participar en el programa de Access que es una organización de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Guatemala, con el propósito de brindarle becas  a jóvenes de diferentes areas. Y para el programa de fotografía hicieron una alianza con La Fototeca y ellos me llamaron para ser parte de los profesores y es así como inicie mi viaje a Quetzaltenango.

Estaba realmente emocionada por ir a compartir con los alumnos, además la idea de viajar y el viaje a este lugar era la oportunidad perfecta.

Así que iba sola en la carretera con mi música favorita, y cuando me dio hambre decidí hacer una parada técnica en El Rincón Suizo, este lugar solo nos puede comprobar una cosa: No necesitas ingredientes presuntuosos para tener una excelente comida. Lo que ordene fueron tortillas con queso, pero creanme que no se necesita la carne para ser feliz.

Así que la próxima vez que estes por la carretera y pases por Chimaltenango espera un poquito más hasta llegar a Tecpan para probar estas deliciosas tortillas con la salsa de tomate y su exquisito chile.
