Cuando es la primera vez que le presentas a tu familia a tu novio, definitivamente hacerlo al rededor de una buena comida hace que toda la situación se vuelva un poco más cómoda y fluya mejor.
Hice mi respectiva investigación y un lugar que creí era una buena opción para este momento tan importante fue Lardo (1212 SE Hawthorne Blvd Portland, OR). Este sería el lugar perfecto de sandwiches para casi todos, por que la única que no tenía casi ninguna opción para comer era mi hermana debido a que es vegana. Pero para esta ocasión estaba más pendiente por que mi papá se sintiera a gusto por la comida que mi hermana, para ser honesta.
Increíblemente era un día soleado en Portland, así que encontramos una mesa afuera del restaurante para disfrutar de los rayos del sol.
Yo pedí un Pho´ Rench Dip que era carne de res desmechada, albahaca tailandesa, salsa Hoisin y un poco de sopa Pho para remojar el pan.
La elección del pan era consistente como para sostener todos los ingredientes y soportar el remojo. La combinación de todos los sabores eran dulces, salados y ácidos a la vez.
Mi cuñado pidió el Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, que venía con tocino y pepinillos. Que la verdad no pude probar pero me moría de ganas por hacerlo.
Lardo es uno de esos restaurantes que vale la pena ir, a pesar de que hay muchísimos restaurantes que son buenos, este se gana tu corazón, por su sencillez, ingredientes de alta calidad, excelente ejecución y pasión por lo que hacen.

I did my research and the place that I thought was the best option for that important meeting was Lardo (1212 SE Hawthorne Blvd Portland, OR). Amazingly it was a sunny day in Portland, we found a table outside to enjoy the sunny light.
I ordered a Pho´ French Dip, it had shaved beef, hoisin, sambal mayo, Thai basil and pho broth.
The choice of bread was the right one to hold all the ingredients and not fall off when you dipped it in the broth. The mix of sweet, acid and salty flavors was perfect.
My brother in law ordered the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, that had bacon and pickles and looked incredible but I didn’t have a chance to try it, but I was dying just looking at it.
Lardo is one of those restaurants that are worth it to visit, no matter how many good restaurants there are in the area, they will win your heart because of their simplicity, good quality ingredients, excellent technique and passion for what they do.
